The Story
Eric and Niklas were skibums in Engelberg during the first years of this century. We were struck by the easily accessible, endless off piste areas and the charming atmosphere of the old monastery village. The thought of running our very own place for fellow mountain lovers has been with us ever since.
In 2008, we discovered that two beautiful old houses were for sale in the heart of Engelberg. One of them had recently been renovated into a bed & breakfast, and the other was an old hotel in dier need of some renovation. We thought about it for a couple of weeks, quit our desk jobs and moved to the Alps, eager to learn how to run a hotel. Today Ski Lodge is four years young, we have learnt a lot about running hotels, and still have a million things we want to do that might make your stay more comfortable, tastier, funnier…simply better. We work together with SOS Sportswear and Nordica Skis who keep us warm and fast on the mountain.
SOS is a brand made for skiers by skiers. The three letters stands for Sportswear of Sweden, which describes well what they do. Functional clothing, for demanding riding. When SOS started out in 1982 they made themselves known as a colorful and different brand that found its own path. They still do. Through the years they have developed a reputation in both Sweden and abroad for high quality and functional design.
Nordica is an Italian company originally specialized in ski boots. Over the past decade, they have also developed skis, and are pushing the limits with their Freeride Series. Jah Love, the 140 mm Monster is our favorite ski this year!
