March Brings the Powder

We’ve been submerged with over 100 cms of new snowfall this past week, and it is currently snowing as we write. March has been known to deliver, and this year it is not disappointing. Our legs are tired and our hearts are full of stoke. If you are headed in our direction, we highly recommend bringing your wide skis. Need to rent? Check out this post for our rental recommendations.

Patagonia Worn Wear

Along with the deep powder, we also welcomed the Patagonia Worn Wear crew onto our doorstep. They brought their tiny repair house with them, offering free repairs for our overly-loved gear. They did so many repairs for our local friends- it was a beautiful thing! Catch them on their EU tour! We are so happy to support this team and their mission to reduce waste and protect the outside spaces we love so much.

There’s still plenty of winter left, so join us

Hard Facts

Snow depth Mountain (slope, 3020 m): 315 cm

Latest snowfall: 13.03.24

Avalanche alert level (from WhiteRisk avalanche bulletin):

The fresh snow and the wind slabs that are being formed by the northwesterly wind are prone to triggering. Single snow sport participants can release avalanches. These can reach medium size.
The wind slabs are to be avoided in steep terrain. Backcountry touring and other off-piste activities call for experience in the assessment of avalanche danger.

Snow pack (from WhiteRisk avalanche bulletin)

Gliding avalanches are still possible, primarily on east-, south- and west-facing slopes below approximately 2400 m and more rarely on north-facing slopes. These may be large.
