Snow Report Engelberg – 20th of October

The titlit top and tower

20.10.2025

The week has been all sunshine up top and clouds down in the valley. Waking up in Engelberg, wrapped in autumn colors and a layer of grey above, isn’t exactly the kind of weather that gets skiers rushing for their boots. But for the determined ones, those who still check the webcam before their morning coffee, there’s a real treat waiting at the top. All week, a thick blanket of low clouds has been resting over the valley, only breaking open for a few hours of afternoon sun.

First Powder Tracks

Standing in the Rotair lift, crossing the Steinberg glacier, you naturally look down at the big field of snow, a habit that sticks from powder season. How are the snow conditions? Any fresh tracks? Can I spot someone I know? Even though you know there’s no chance anyone (not even the crazy Engelberg locals) would be skiing Steinberg right now, with half the run still a rocky hike down to Trübsee. So you can imagine the shock when those first tracks are there. The mystery wears off quickly when you realise they belong to paragliding skiers. Still, it makes you wonder, is it time to add yet another extreme sport to the list? Engelberg does have a way of pushing your limits, after all.

For those of us not quite ready to take the flight down the glacier, there’s still plenty of fun to be had. A short hike up towards Gross Titlis opens up fresh terrain just waiting to be explored. Over the past week, the determined ones have been treated to some perfectly creamy turns – yes, its okey to be a little jealous now!
