Two old ski friends who got fed up with their desk jobs, and chose to pursue a lifelong dream - that is the short story behind the Ski Lodge. Now, a couple of years later, it is a hotel with a focus on mountain acitivities, but also with a few ingredients that make a good vacation even better - great food, a large wine cellar and cozy, homey rooms.
Niklas and Eric discussed the dream of running a hotel already during their studies. After graduation, the plans were forgotten and the two ventured off to different parts of the world, working long hours in the banking and advertising industry. Whenever they met, it was always on top of a snow-clad volcano in Chile, driving a snowmobile in the Rocky Mountains or on a glacier in Chamonix. Counting days on snow every year.
It was during one of those trips, this time to Engelberg in Switzerland, it all began. Both had spent a couple of winter seasons in the village in the early 2000s, and now they found out that a run-down hotel was for sale. After lengthy discussions, they came to the conclusion that it was spot on: to finally quit the desk job, move down to the Alps and run a hotel. And not just any hotel. After years of travelling to different ski destinations, they knew what they really missed on a mountain vacation – a place where the staff knows exactly where the snow is best, good cuisine and wine, and well-designed rooms.
