Snow Report Engelberg – October 27th

The Latest Snowfall

We’ve had a week of classic gloomy October weather – clouds hanging low in the valley, but snowy peaks showing off towards the end of the week. Storm Benjamin swept over the Alps, bringing some much-needed snow down to around 1,400 m.a.s.l., giving us a good early-season base that will hopefully stick around until proper winter arrives. As you can see in the pictures, Laub has turned white, and the farmland slopes of Brunni are starting to fill in too. Big Christmas Eve–style snowflakes have been spotted all around the valley this week, from Ristis on Brunni (1600 m.a.s.l.) to Trübsee (1792 m.a.s.l.) on the Titlis side.

What to do on a down day?

With the stormy weather rolling through last week, the mountain stayed closed for skiing over the weekend. So what do you do when you can’t ski? Easy – head down to Roastery Engelberg. Their coffee is as good as it gets, the crew behind the counter always makes you feel at home, and that big map table is pure inspiration. It’s the perfect spot to sip a cappuccino, trace your finger over the lines of Laub, and start dreaming up your next mission. It’s also the best place to pick up a little souvenir, they sell the nicest posters and postcards, perfect for bringing a bit of Engelberg back home with you.

From Inside The Lodge

  • Red Wine & Game Night – Crisp autumn nights call for good wine, great games, and even better company, and we’ve got just the evening for it! On October 30th, join us in our Bar & Library for Red Wine & Game Night. We’ll be opening a few of our favourite reds from the cellar – the ones you won’t find on the regular glass list – and laying out all our best board games. Come for the wine, stay for the laughs, and maybe even discover a new favourite game along the way!
  • Best Burger Monday – Every Monday this summer, one of our crew takes over the kitchen reins for a burger straight from their imagination. This time it’s none other than our wonderful Ida Magnusson! Here’s Ida’s creation: The Caesar Burger, grilled chicken, Sbrinz, romaine lettuce, bacon, Caesar dressing, and red onions. And just like always, eating good also does good: all through the month of October, 1 CHF from every best burger sold goes to Skiers Left – an awesome initiative that helps educate and inform riders about safety in freeride skiing!!

Maintenance work on the mountain coming up!

Every autumn, Titlis does maintenance work on their lifts, and over two weeks in November, the Rotair & Iceflyer lifts are up for its turns. This means there’ll be no access to the glacier for skiing between November 3rd and 14th. So make this week count, with the new snow and a bit of sun in the forecast, it’s definitely worth a visit to the top for maybe some early powder turns:)))
