Skiing after the Storm

After last week’s stormy weather, the mountain finally opened up again on Tuesday for skiing! We went to check it out – and it’s looking promising. Snow has fallen all the way down to Trübsee, and for those not afraid of a scratch or two on their new skis, riding from the glacier through Rotegg past Stand towards Trübsee was no problem at all. It’s been windy up there, leaving behind a playground of wind lips to play around in!

Getting a taste of skiing like this already makes us never want it to stop… but – due to maintenance work on the lifts – the mountain will now be closed until the 14th of November. Good things come to those who wait though, and when the mountain opens back up, we’re hoping for prepared slopes all the way from Stand down to Trübsee, as well as up on the glacier!

Spooky Season is here!

Autumn has been especially pretty in Engelberg this year. The colors in the valley have been spreading joy for weeks now – a promising sign that winter and cooler temperatures are getting closer every day. But when the leaves finally drop to the ground and the valley turns to shades of brown and grey, you know spooky season has arrived. So, what do we do to brighten up the evenings, you might ask? We carve pumpkins, of course – the scarier, the better! Carving pumpkins is a messy kind of art, and as it turns out, the bar tools seemed to be the way to go. Barman Oliver put his skills to good use and created a bunch of scary (and slightly goofy) pumpkins we’ve been enjoying all week!´

  • New Staff Burger Alert! Throughout November, you’ll be able to enjoy a brand-new staff burger – created by our very own barman Oliver and office dog Janne! Their creation? Say hello to THE DANISH DOGTOWN DELIGHT – roast beef, Danish remoulade, pickled red onion, crispy shallots, and fresh iceberg lettuce. Served with fries and remoulade dip on the side! All through this month, 1 CHF from every DANISH DOGTOWN DELIGHT sold goes straight to a chosen charity. Janne has personally told Oliver that he loves skating – so their chosen charity is The Skatepark Project, supporting safe, inclusive skateparks around the world. Eat well, skate on, do good! http://skatepark.org/
  • Pop Up November Quiz! On Tuesday the 4th, we’re bringing back the classic Ski Lodge music quiz, and this one’s a pop-up! Be there, or you’ll have to wait until December when quiz season is officially in full swing. Quiz Master Niclas Karlsson
