Engelberg Community Bike Day: One Last Ride Before Winter

28.10.2026

The plan was one last ride before winter, an Engelberg Community Bike Day! Cold, rain and even snow. Still, more than 40 riders of all ages turned up on Saturday, 24 October, for our End of Season Ride Out! A pretty good turnout for a day when staying in bed would have been understandable.

Breakfast, bikes and a bit of digging

We started with breakfast at Ski Lodge Engelberg and coffee from Engelberg Roastery, before heading up to Gerschni forest for the Dig n’ Ride.

Pirmin Kündig and Seppie shared their knowledge of trail maintenance and riding etiquette, and everyone got stuck into the clean-up. By the end, the entire Gerschni trail had been cleaned.

Kids and parents from Bike club Engelberg joined in alongside the other riders. Seeing everyone putting time into the trails we all enjoy was one of the best parts of the day. Those trails take work, and Saturday was a chance to lend a hand.

There was food to keep us going too! Freshly brewed Espresso from Oscar at the Roastery Engelberg and a one of a kind BBQ bike from Specialized kept the energy flowing amongst the riders.

A look at what’s next

Thomy Vetterli from Bike Genoss and Pirmin also shared plans for future trail development in Engelberg. There’s plenty to look forward to, and it was good to hear about it directly from the people involved.

The turnout gave us another reason to be excited. Riders, trail builders, clubs and local businesses all made time for this, even with the weather doing its best to complicate things.

There’s already talk of more community rides in 2027. We’re keen!

Thanks for showing up

A big thank-you to Fanie and Greg from Bike & Board Local Engelberg for helping bring everyone together; Pirmin, Seppie and Bikeclub Engelberg for the trail work and support; Esthi and the 4Seasons team for the goodie bags and prizes; and Oscar and Engelberg Roastery for keeping the coffee flowing. The Engelberg Community Bike Day was nothing but a success!

A big thank you to Specialized, zämä, Bikegenoss, Engelberg-Titlis Tourism and everyone who contributed along the way.

Elias Lundh was there to capture the action. Watch the recap here.

And to everyone who pulled on a jacket, picked up a tool and came riding: thank you. That was a proper send-off!

See you on the trails!

Now, we look forward to go skiing. Just maybe, we will plan another community Dig n’ Ride Snow edition this winter!
