Snow Report Engelberg February 24th

Snowboarder riding down the Leffes chute in Engelberg

This winter has been an interesting one, with snow hitting Engelberg every 10-14 days, followed by stretches of incredible bluebird conditions. And this snow report from Engelberg this February, can report the proof of this! Luckily, the stable avalanche situation has allowed for a lot of exploring, and riders have been making the most of it. From the classic Steineberg runs to the more technical and less accessible chutes in Sulz, such as “Leffes,” riders have been exploring it all. Astrid Paulsson and her crew took their adventure to the next level, rappelling down Leffes to reach some untouched snow.

Looking ahead, there is snow in the forecast! It looks like we might get lucky this week, with snowfall expected on Tuesday and Wednesday. While different weather sources vary in their predictions, they all agree that some fresh snow is on its way. OpenSnow forecasts that after some light rain and snow over the weekend, a decent storm is expected between Tuesday and Thursday. Although this doesn’t appear to be a major storm, a solid refresh of 10-20 cm is likely for much of the northern and southern Alps. Meanwhile, WePowder is predicting even heavier snowfall, so fingers crossed for a proper powder day!
