This week started strong with 40cm of fresh snow overnight, bringing excellent conditions to Engelberg. After the storm, we’ve enjoyed several bluebird days, making for ideal skiing across the Swiss Alps. Smooth turns, good coverage, and clear skies have defined the past few days. This snow report from February 3rd and is from Engelberg.
Touring the Bannalper Round Trip
Freerider Hedvig Wessel has been staying at Ski Lodge Engelberg and took advantage of the conditions to complete the Bannalper Round Trip, a scenic tour just 15 minutes from Engelberg. The route starts with an ascent to Bannalp, followed by a climb to Schonegg in about two hours. After a descent into Grosstal valley, a tram ride takes skiers up to Gitschenen, followed by a final 500-meter climb to Sinsgäuer Schonegg. The route ends with a long descent back to Oberrickenbach. A great option for those looking to explore beyond the main slopes.

The Blizzard Crew has also been making the most of Engelberg, skiing around Titlis and finding fresh snow pockets over the weekend. Even after the main storm, there’s still good snow to be found for those who seek it. Photos by Frank Shine, taken on February 2nd.

Looking Ahead: Stable Conditions & More Sunshine The forecast calls for more bluebird days. The avalanche bulletin is now at a Level 2 – Moderate, opening up more terrain for exploration. As always, bring avalanche gear, check conditions, and make smart decisions in the backcountry.
