Hosted by Ski Lodge Engelberg and The Mountain Studio, this unique event offers a fresh take on the classic Backyard Ultra Race format. Whether you’re an experienced ultra-runner or embarking on your first major running challenge, this event is designed to test your limits, foster camaraderie, and push everyone to achieve new personal records (PRs).
The Race Format
The Engelberg Backyard Race revolves around a simple yet grueling format. Participants will tackle a 6.7km loop every hour, starting on the hour. The goal is to complete each loop within the allotted time before beginning the next. The race continues until no runner can complete the loop within the hour. This format demands not only physical endurance but also strategic pacing and mental fortitude.
Race Options: Something for Everyone
To cater to different levels of runners and personal goals, we offer two distinct race editions: the Race Edition and the Collector Edition.
Race Edition Backyard Ultra
Starting at 08:00, the Race Edition is designed for those looking to push themselves from the get-go. Runners will start together and continue looping for up to 12 hours, challenging their stamina and determination. The objective is to see how many loops you can complete within the time frame, testing your endurance to the fullest.
Collector Edition
The Collector Edition offers more flexibility, making it ideal for those who prefer a more relaxed approach or are looking to achieve specific loop targets. Participants can start at any hour from 12:00 to 19:00, choosing their starting time and taking breaks as needed. This edition allows runners to collect as many loops as they wish throughout the day, providing an excellent opportunity to set new PRs without the pressure of continuous running.
