It’s been a wild two weeks since our last report, and the string of bluebird days we’ve had has allowed us to get a bit adventurous. We love the sun, but oh do we see the light at the end of the tunnel with this new weather report!

WHAT HAVE WE BEEN UP TO?
During the last two weeks, we’ve had the pleasure of hosting an immense crew of skiers from all over the world. They all came tumbling in with the latest snowfall, go figure! The Freeride World Tour crew of Kristoffer Turdell, Reine Barkered and Carl Regnér were here and skied around with Felix Lundin (skier extraordinary and also our dishwasher this season), Peter Nilsson (former staff member in town for a week of vacation and he managed to get the one 40cm powder day – luck or experience?), Mark Warner (Low Pressure Podcast) and Andreas Sjölund (holding the stick).
Andreas Sjölund actually needs a longer introduction here. He is an engineer working in Sweden and is making life choices that count (at least in our humble opinion). Every year he comes back to Engelberg to ski for a month during his well-deserved vacation, and we can tell you – he skis almost every damn day from lift opening to closing.

Adventures with Team Ski Lodge
On the 13th of February and 14th of February, a handful of our staff members did two equally important things. Oliver, Ester, Roman and Clemens participated in the yearly Staff Race where companies in the village race it out on a Giant Slalom course. We did good! The other group, snowboarders, went out on a mission with mountain Guide Robert Lonell to learn more about avalanche safety and snowpack.
P.s. The staff who went out on the avy course now want a magnifying glass as a Christmas present to check snowflake anatomy, and the race group is asking for us to bring in Mikaela Shiffrin’s former coach on the payroll. We are looking into both.
