Schneebericht Mt Titlis 2020.

It finally arrived! During the last 36 hours, it’s been snowing almost non stop. In the village, we could measure 70cm of new snow at 7.30 this morning. Powder to the people!

Mt Titlis remained closed during the day due to high risks and avalanche danger, this in combination with the huge amount of snow that came in. They had no time or visibility to prepare the ski area. The fresh snow and also, in particular, the wind slabs that are forming at elevated altitudes can be released by a single winter sport participant in some cases in particular on shady slopes. They are to be avoided in steep terrain. Avalanches can reach medium size. Backcountry touring and other off-piste activities call for experience in the assessment of avalanche danger.
