First Snowreport for season 2022-2023 from Engelberg – it’s fun to go skiing again!

First Snowreport for season 2022-2023 from Engelberg - it's fun to go skiing again!

The Glacier in Engelberg-Titlis is since the 15th of October open daily for yet another season. This makes Engelberg the second ski destination in Switzerland to open up in early season.

On October the 15th the lift opened at 8.30 on the dot and we were there to see if we still had it in us. After the 10 min Gondola ride up to Stand we jumped on the Rotair lift (the first rotating lift in Europe!) to get us across the glacier. Up on the top we were greeted with carving friendly pistes, and thin air. Not a very good combination for new season ski legs, but the first run is always a bit of a hassle, right? During the day the snow becomes slushy and you get a feeling of spring snow in parts, therefore we would encourage you to sharpen your edges for the morning and bring out the switch twintip for the late afternoon. If you want to that is.

The Glacier slope with T-bar lift in the afternoon.

The open pistes are covering an area of 6 kilometres at the moment (out of our high season full 82km) and are on the glacier north facing slopes. Two lifts are open for skiing: T-bar with the glacier piste and the Ice Flyer with Glacier slope, in between these runs is also a cat track above and between the base of the Ice Flyer Lift.
