Snow In Our Faces – Snow Round-Up 7th March

Snow In Our Faces - Snow Round-Up 7th March

Whatever you have heard, the weather forecast managed to fool us completely this time around.

Last week we gave up hope of winter and started to take out our spring clothes. For no reason at all. A very welcome snow dump came unexpectedly – with a storm – during the night of Friday to Saturday. The storm kept getting stronger until it reached maximum wind speed, which is massive for us. Titlis as well as the rest of the lift system had to take a day off – the storm was just too strong.

Even though we weren’t exactly thrilled about that, we could not stop wondering whether there actually might be some snow left up on the mountain. Despair started to build up. Then Sunday morning arrived and we understood why we had not been allowed on the mountain the day before. THERE WAS SO MUCH FRESH SNOW TO BE SKIED and snowboarded (“snowboarded” sounds kind of weird, so let’s just say the conditions were great for everyone).

We enjoyed some epic turns in bluebird weather and all that was, was now forgotten.

The upcoming week is going to be epic, as we are in a dump inferno at the time of writing. Today, Tuesday, we had the pleasure of skiing 30 cm deep champagne powder on and off the slopes, even though there were whiteout conditions, as far as sight is concerned. AND we are still counting. This was before noon and it has been snowing the entire afternoon since.

If you are worried about the avalanche alert level, you are absolutely right – we all should be. Yesterday we suffered a small earthquake at approx. 9.15 pm, which had an impact on the snow masses. We all have to keep our minds alert and not ski where it seems sketchy or unsafe (ever).

Get your gear together in a lean and mean package and book yourself in for the weekend here or give us a call at +41 41 637 35 00. Fun guaranteed.

I am sorry, but we did not have time to take pictures today, True story. It was just too good.
