Backpacks packed with sunscreen, quick wax, snacks – and maybe a cheeky little beer – left at the top of the lift while lapping Engstlen with a great crew, dialing in tricks and having fun. That can only mean one thing… spring is here! This week has been all about sunshine, beers in our Garden, and the freeride competition we all know and love here in Engelberg, Prix Garantie Line Catcher!! Spring skiing at its best!
This week brought some pretty sweet spring conditions on the mountain, while down in the village we got a taste of summer. Temperatures in our little village reached around 20°C, and out came the shorts, caps, and sunnies. We’ve can report that people are heading further down the valley to the lakes for a swim, still pretty cold in the waters though…
Back to the skiing: we’d definitely recommend bringing some quick wax up the mountain, or making sure a pro gives your bases a bit of love. When the sun is strong and the snow turns soft and slushy, things can get a bit sticky, and you still want to be flying down those slopes, right? Higher up, the snow is still holding colder conditions, and on Friday we even got a small refresh up high.
And don’t forget the sunscreen. The sun is strong, and with the reflection off the snow it hits even harder. A goggle tan might look great in a ski town… but just wait until you get back to the office, people will definitely notice;)
After Ski, After Bike, After Work – It All Happens in Our Garden!
It’s that time of year when the sun finally reaches our Garden late into the evenings, painting the mountain tops in soft shades of pink and leaving us with that full, happy feeling. There’s honestly nothing we enjoy more than filling our Garden with the community we love, skiers, bikers, hikers, and all the mountain people who choose Engelberg as their home. Thanks to all of you for making it what it is!
