Snow Report Engelberg – 14th of December

Skiing Steinberg With Oliver and Vilde, Engelberg

14.12.2025

Reported: December 8th – 14th

We’ve had a beautifully sunny week here in Engelberg, and if it hadn’t been for that weak December sun, we’d be rocking some serious goggle tans by now. Conditions have been a bit questionable though. Last week’s rain higher up left a crust in the off-piste and some pretty firm pistes. The sun looked promising, but it never quite got warm enough to really soften things up. That said… it’s always fun to ski, right?! The icy, sunny days also brought perfect conditions for ice skating on Lake Trübsee. On Sunday, the local hockey club EHC made the most of it, heading out for a proper session on the ice. This is when you have to get a little bit creative, and Engelberg always delivers if you know where to look.

The Community we Love

Last week the house was filled with the community we love. We welcomed visitors from far and wide, the kind of skiing guests we’re best at taking care of. Carl Regnér, Kristofer Turdell, and Abel Moga were here putting in training laps ahead of the Freeride World Tour, which kicks off on January 16th in Spain.

We also had Tom-Oliver Hedvall visiting, skier and one of the creators behind “Sarek – An in-depth study of Europe’s worst weather”, a film we’ll be showing later this week during Movie Night. And of course, our friends from The Bunch and 1000 Skis were back in Engelberg for their yearly trip. Magnus Granér, Pär Hägglund, and Alric Ljunghager from 1000 Skis hosted a Community Ride on Saturday, followed by After Ski at Ski Lodge.

Emil Granbom has been upping our bar game with DJ Child takeovers at the turntable, and to balance out the strong Swedish presence, Norwegian skier Nikolai Schirmer and snowboarder Krister Kopala joined us too, soaking up some sunshine in our mountains!

We love having these people in the house. They show exactly what the ski community can bring on every level, and even when conditions aren’t perfect, their love for skiing always shines through. Music QuizFrom Tuesday, Dec 16th, we’re kicking off weekly music quizzes, every Tuesday at 20:00 in our bar. Expect friendly competition, good tunes, and the chance to walk away with bragging rights and a bottle of prosecco. We’re starting strong next week with our very own barman Oliver as quizmaster. He claims he’s been preparing for weeks… and if you know his taste in music, you know it’s going to be a good one. So save the date and get your team together!

Ski Lodge Movie Night – Join us, meet the creators, grab a drink, and share stories with the community we love!

The lineup:

An experimental ski film exploring the paradox of dedicating so much time and energy to fleeting moments and revealing the inexplicable joy skiing brings. A movie by Laurent De Martin.

Sarek – An in-depth study of Europe’s worst weather
After over a decade of dreaming, the team set out with heavy sleds, fought Arctic storms, and camped far from civilization to ski big mountain lines in Sarek National Park. A story about endurance, tough decisions, friendship, and finding joy in the struggle. A movie by Tom-Oliver Hedvall, Elias Lundh & Erik Nylander.

YUME
