The sunshine has been out in full force, and Engelberg has been enjoying stable snow conditions this past week. Hard-packed snow and smooth slopes are the name of the game right now. This snow report Engelberg January 20th covers everything from ideal off-piste adventures to backcountry touring spots for those looking for something a little extra.
The current conditions are fast and consistent, making it a great time to explore areas that are usually more challenging. With the snowpack holding steady, popular spots like the couloirs in Sulz have been seeing plenty of action. Maybe it is finally time to check out that line you’ve been waiting for?

Touring in Bannalp
If you’re into climbing and descending vertical meters touring is more your style, Bannalp is worth the short 20-minute drive from Engelberg Valley. This recreation area offers a mix of small T-bars and vast spaces for touring. The Bannalp cable car takes you up into the heart of untouched terrain, where you can test your endurance on the climbs and revel in the pristine descents. Stable conditions this week mean it’s a good time to tackle some vertical meters, both up and down, while soaking in the alpine environment. Photos below is from earlier in January, but we’re hearing rumours you can still find good snow there!
