Snow Report Engelberg: January 6th

Image from Brunni, Engelberg. January snow report engelberg. Powder and sunny days.

Winter returned to Engelberg in full force over the weekend with a much-needed refill! In this January snow report From Engelberg: From Thursday to Friday, more than 40 cm of fresh snow covered the mountains, creating incredible conditions to kick off the weekend. Brunni, with its sunshine and powdery slopes, was the place to be on Friday morning, offering stunning views, fresh tracks, and an unbeatable vibe while waiting for Titlis to open.

But by Sunday, a warmer weather system rolled in, bringing higher temperatures and some wind. While it put a slight damper on the powder party, the skiing was still on, and the grooms held up well for those carving turns across the slopes.

Brunni is always a solid choice for a powder day, and with the sun shining and fresh snow, it’s been delivering. This Friday, we had a fantastic morning over on the sunny side while waiting for Titlis to open. Between the views, the fresh tracks, and the good vibes, it’s hard to beat.

Looking ahead:
Good news for powder lovers: the forecast this week looks promising. According to OpenSnow, snow levels will begin dropping starting Wednesday night. By Thursday night, a much colder airmass will take over, setting up to powder conditions on Friday/Saturday as snow levels dip below 1,000 meters.

The incoming system is expected to bring 15–30 cm of fresh snow across much of the French and Swiss Alps, including Engelberg, with the heaviest snowfall predicted Thursday into Friday. Winds will shift from west-southwest to west-northwest as the cold front moves through.
