The past ten days have been a mix of weather challenges and winter magic here at Ski Lodge Engelberg the scope was wide!

It all started with rain soaking the village at 1,000m, which washed away the snow on Brunni. The sunny days that followed didn’t help either, leaving the sunny side completely bare. But up on Mt. Titlis from 1800 and up at 3,000m, winter held its ground. More lifts and pistes opened so the stand-trübsee slopes are opened as well as the Jochpass will open on Saturday 7th of December. A good amount of fresh snow landed on the upper altitudes, and once the skies cleared, we enjoyed some fantastic powder runs on the top and all the way down Steinberg. Tuesday and Wednesday mornings were especially rewarding, with soft, playful snow up on the glacier that made the rainy days in the village well worth it.

We were also lucky to host pro skier Nicolai Schirmer and snowboarder Kris Kopala this week. During the rainy days, they stayed warm and relaxed in our sauna and hot tub, catching up on some home office tasks. But as soon as the weather improved, they were back on the mountain, carving up the fresh snow with big smiles and reminding us why we love these slopes so much.

Back at the hotel, we’ve been busy getting into the holiday spirit. For the 1st of Advent, we baked saffron buns and decorated the entire hotel for Christmas. The smell of freshly baked “lussekatter” filled the air, and now the cozy glow of Christmas lights is making everything feel extra festive.

On top of that, we’re giving our elevator a fresh new look! Next week, we’ll be putting up a new wall picture featuring a panorama of one of Engelberg’s most iconic ski runs. The old photos are coming down, and we can’t wait to see how it transforms the space.

Even with the ups and downs in the weather, the snow on Titlis is holding up, and we’re hopeful for more wintery days ahead. See you out there on the mountain!
