This past week was an unforgettable one for all of us at Mt. Titlis. From wild weather to incredible powder runs, it was a week of challenges, excitement, and teamwork. While the storms kept us on our toes, they also delivered some of the best snow we’ve seen so far this season.
First real snowfall in the Engelberg village!
With Mt. Titlis closed from Tuesday to Friday due to strong winds. Not getting up on the mountain was frustrating, but we made the most of the downtime. The Mammut and POC teams were staying with us, testing their new Berryvox avalanche transceivers. We headed up to Trübsee at 1,800 meters, where the storm conditions gave us the perfect opportunity to trial the gear in real-world mountain scenarios (although with a limited amount of snow on the actual ground at this time). It wasn’t the skiing we’d hoped for, but being part of this hands-on testing was a good experience for everyone involved. Always try to find ways to try your gear before the season – it’s so worth it!

Storm on Mt Titlis
On Thursday, the storm brought heavy snow, and with the lifts on Titlis still closed, we shifted our focus to Brunni/Ristis on the sunny side. It was like stepping into a winter wonderland, with 45–25cm of fresh powder stretching down to the valley at 1,000 meters. Brunni’s open fields and scattered farmhouses made for some of the best skiing we’ve had in a while. The lack of rocks meant we could fully enjoy the powder without worrying about hidden hazards, gliding smoothly between the farmhouses. It was an idyllic mix of fun and field-testing—pun fully intended!

When Mt. Titlis reopened on Saturday, we couldn’t wait to get back on the Steinberg glacier. We were greeted with 65–70cm of powder, and it felt amazing to finally be up there again. The ski-out had some rocky spots, but the snow was so good we hardly cared. Unfortunately, the winds returned, and by 14:40 the lifts had to close again.

On Sunday, we headed back to Brunni for one last powder-filled adventure. Touring between the fields and farmhouses felt like the perfect way to wrap up the week. The soft snow and peaceful surroundings made for a relaxing yet exhilarating day.
From stormy setbacks to incredible powder skiing, this week at Mt. Titlis reminded us of why we love these mountains so much. It’s not always smooth sailing, but the rewards are always worth it!
